metectSil™
Innovative silicone rubber seals and gaskets
Increase productivity and reduce downtime by choosing metectSil™ silicone rubber seals and gaskets.
A widespread global concern is the risk of silicone particles from machinery contaminating products on the production line.
This concern is widespread in manufacturing - particularly industries associated with food, drink and pharmaceuticals.
In response to the commercial problems of downtime and large quantities of waste being produced from such contamination, Silicone Engineering developed a solution - metectSil™.
metectSil™ silicone rubber seal and gasket technology can quickly and efficiently be detected to prevent contamination.
metectSil silicone rubber seals and gaskets will allow detection of any eroding particles entering the process line using in-line metal detection systems.
The production process can be stopped quickly, the contaminated products are segregated and the process line is maintained to rectify the problem.
Therefore, the risk of production downtime and probability of waste being produced is greatly reduced.
- Enhanced industrial reputation due to reduced downtime and increased safety
- Reduced costs
- Reduced likelihood of customer complaints
- Ease of scheduling planned maintenance
- Lowered insurance premiums
metectSil™ is highly resistant to degradation from chemical and environmental factors.
It is suitable for use in a range of demanding environments.
It is also resistant to ozone, oxidation, ultraviolet light, corona discharges, cosmic radiation, ionising radiation and general weathering.
metectSil™ silicone rubber seals and gaskets perform admirably at temperatures ranging from -60°C to 230°C.
Silicone Engineering can produce special formulations to endure even greater physical and environmental extremes if so desired by our clients.
Silicone Engineering produces three detection strengths of solid metectSil™:
- Standard metectSil™ ST
- Premium metectSil™ XP
- Super metectSil™ XS
Additionally, Silicone Engineering can produce this metal detectable silicone in a sponge form as - metectSil™SP.
The three forms of solid metectSil™ (ST, XP and XS) are typically used in silicone rubber seals and gaskets.
All three are tested to and comply with the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation 21CFR177.2600 for rubber articles in repeated contact with food, and EC1935/2004 for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
Testing of the three forms of metectSil™ was conducted using the MET30+ Universal metal detector manufactured by Lock Inspection Systems Ltd.
Lock detectors are widely used within the food processing industry.
Tests were conducted using a 10mm long x 5mm wide x 3mm high piece of each type of metectSil™.
All three grades of metectSil™ have been tested extensively and the results were outstanding. Test results are available upon request.
